Campership Funding Campaign

FINAL REPORT

The Tall Pine Council Board of Directors reviewed the Council Budget and determined there was a critical need for several new Special Projects, in order to generate adequate income to meet projected increased expenses for operation of our camps, leader/volunteer training, the Scout Service Center, professional program management, computer systems, support to the national BSA and insurance. Even though they expected to receive the continued full support of all Scouters for raising funds through the annual Friends-of-Scouting (FOS) program, Popcorn Sales and Special Events, we still had a serious problem and needed to also find new ways of offsetting reductions in some of our other traditional sources of funding.

One of the Special Projects identified was support of the Scout Campership program. Each year it has the goal of raising enough additional funds to help less fortunate Scouts, in our three county area, so that they can attend our Summer Camps and for them to experience the lifelong values found in the Scout Oath and Law.

Thanks to you and others who donated funds our local Campership program this year was the most successful ever, with a 50% increase in participation. This past summer we were able to send an increased number of less fortunate Boy Scouts to Tall Pine Council camps Holaka and Tapico. All of these Scouts worked hard to earn funds, but for some it was not enough to pay for all of the food and supplies needed for a week at Scout camp.

What a wonderful experience the Scouts had doing the physical, educational and character building activities supervised by our team of adult Scout volunteers and professionals. Every Scout, in the Campership program, is very appreciative of the funds donated to help them. Following this report is a series of pictures showing the Scouts participating in various camp activities that they will remember and utilize throughout their lives.

Thanks again for your support and we hope you will consider a donation again next year.
